Artwork Synopsis: “JAPA” is a visual reflection of the mass exodus of Nigerian professionals, youths, and entire families resigning, liquidating and uprooting their lives in search of better futures abroad–rendered in bold abstract forms and earthty, textured strokes. The painting captures the dislocation and urgency and quiet desperation that drives the migration. The scattered shades suggest disintegration– of homes, careers and dreams– while upwards strokes and fragemented pathways hint on hope, ambition and escape. The background, bursting with yellow energy symbolises both departure and burning desire for a better life. Central forms evoke human figures, luggages and dismantled structures.
It’s a cry and a journey, a story not told in words but in motion.
In this piece “JAPA” is not a word—it is a movement, a choice, a silent revolution
