Artist Profile

UFUOMA EVUARHERHE (b. 1969) is a full-time studio artist based in Ogun State, Nigeria. His artistic journey began in Lagos, the nation’s vibrant art capital, where he completed his early education and laid the foundation for a lifelong creative path. He earned a Higher National Diploma in Painting from Yaba College of Technology in 1994 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Benin in 1999.
Working in oil, acrylic, pastel, and mixed media, Ufuoma creates art that is deeply emotive and narrative-driven. His practice is rooted in figurative compositions—often celebrating the female form—while steadily evolving into abstraction. Through texture, color, and rhythm, he reimagines African stories, breathing new energy into cultural memory and giving them fresh, contemporary form.
For Ufuoma, art is never static but ever evolving. Each piece reflects his curiosity, his devotion to experimentation, and his commitment to bridging tradition with innovation. His work is dynamic, human-centered, and ever evolving an ongoing testament to the beauty and truth found in everyday African life.
Ufuoma has exhibited in Nigeria and internationally, with his works held in both private collections and public institutions at home and abroad.
